Week 3 of 52 Week Photo Project and Behind the Scenes

I’ve had a rough week. Didn’t make the photo I planned to and have very low energy.

Seeing a gorgeous rainbow on my wall after a few breakdowns was a highlight of my week (apart from the inauguration).

I didn’t get to make the photo I wanted and I’m currently going through a nutritional change for myself/my body and it’s really fucking hard. I don’t have a great relationship with food and my diet and I’m trying to do something about it.

Making this on my phone is what I had capacity for this week. I’m hopeful next week will be better. 💛

As I’m sitting here trying to practice kindness/gentleness with myself, I hope it’s a reminder for you to do the same when you need it most.

THE PROCESS

There’s a famous quote that the best camera is the one you have on you. I whole-heartedly agree with this.

When in the throws of this challenging time period, my phone was all I had access to and energy for. And THATS OK.

Selfie mode and all. I then used the Adobe Photoshop Express App to cut myself out and blend with this photo I have of the wall with the rainbow.

Not letting weeks like this slip by and still trying to make something is one of the reasons I am doing this project.

Because even the act of trying and pushing past the possibility of “poor quality” is something. To me, it pushes me one step further to making work that feels more and more like me, for me.

What do you do when you’re not feeling your best, but still want to create? If you’ve pushed past those not great feelings, have you ever made something you otherwise wouldn’t have?

I’d love to hear your experiences, so comment below and let me know!
